Desktop updates

OmO Desktop checks for a new version when it starts and every few minutes after that. Nothing downloads or installs until you say so.

Update the app

  1. When a new version is ready, an update button appears in the sidebar.
  2. Open it to read what changed, then choose Download.
  3. When the download finishes, choose Install. OmO restarts on the new version.

You can also check by hand: open Settings, find the version, and choose Check for Updates.

Release notes

The update menu lists what changed in each new version before you download it. If you skipped a few versions, it shows the changes for each one, newest first.

Stable or Nightly

In Settings, next to the version, Update track picks which builds you get:

  • Stable gets full releases. Most people should use this.
  • Nightly gets a new build most days, with the newest changes and more rough edges.

You can switch back to Stable at any time.

Apple Silicon Macs

If OmO says it is running the Intel build on an Apple Silicon Mac, it is working through Rosetta and runs slower than it should. Install the next update and OmO switches to the Apple Silicon build.

If an update fails

If OmO can't check for or download an update, make sure you are online and try again from Settings. A failed download changes nothing: you keep running the version you have until an update installs.
